GoGo Encoder? Any info or quality comments?
Now I'm on 3.10(dll and exe).
I know its based on Lame 3.88, but has some
routines re-written in another language, for
speed improvements.
I never found any good information about this
encoder(quality, commands, etc).
By listening tests, it seems to be a good encoder.
Can anyone point me a link to any GoGo 3.x docs?

The quality is supposed to be the same as Lame 3.88 and 3.9x (It uses code from 3.91)
Some key routines were rewritten in assembler with MMX, SSE and 3Dnow! optimizations for faster encoding. But, AFAIK, the developers didn't downgrade quality for speed.

Roberto.
Ok.
GoGo is 40% (av) faster, so why not use some of its
routines in Lame itself, to improve speed?(sugestion to Lame
developers).
GoGo has comparable features, even does ABR.

Most of gogo's optimizations can't be folded back in Lame without major code rewritings in Lame (Sorry, that's the way programming works.

)
Besides, AFAIK, there's no --alt-preset in Gogo, what makes it useless for most of the people that use this forum.
There's no documentation yet because it's in alpha stage. Gogo 2.39 had a good documentation (in both Japanese and English), but it is outdated by now.
Abraços;
Roberto.
Yeah...
My first contact with Gogo was on 2.35, I think...
The 2.xx versions are even faster!!!
But, they have lower quality I know.
What about the joint-stereo in GoGo? Is is good and
safe like Lame's latest joint stereo(by default in all
-alt presets and r3mix).
Just 4 fun, some GoGo commands:
-b 320 -q 0 - m j -> CBR-joint stereo-highest qual.
-b 200 -a - m j -q 2 -> ABR 200, jstereo, HQ
-b 250 -a - m j -q 0 -> ABR 250, jstereo, highest quality
-v 0 - m j -vb 128 320 -> VBR 160-320, js, highest qual.
