I have been using foobar for over a year now, I love it. Recently I purchased an LCD display (crystalfontz) which is also a cool toy. In the CrystalControl software used to set up your screens there is a plugin for winamp to display song name, track number ect. as I am no programmer it would be wonderful if someone could write a similar plugin for foobar.

I write the Crystalfontz software (CrystalControl, 633-Service and others)... CC Admin in the CF forums.

I am currently working on making a Foobar2000 plugin for the future release of CrystalControl2.
I have the spect anyl working, and am now working on track info and FB2K control.

whats the maximum cable run for that 633 with keypad? i want to run foobar and see the display in the bedroom, about 70 wire feet away.

if the keypad does not directly support foobar, can it be programmed to mimic the regular keyboard? then you could set it up to where the displays' 'keypad >' equals the next key or any other key?

oh yeah, what about foo_text? it writes to a text file, right? i havent been able to find out about how to get the lcd app to read that text file.

That distance shouldnt be a problem if you use the serial 633 (but im only guessing).
I doubt USB would work over that distance.

Using CrystalControl2 the 633 keypad will be able to operate FB2K.

I dont know about foo_text.

well, if you do make the pluggin, it wont matter . but i dont see anything in the crystalcontrol prog that lets you periodically look at a .txt file

Whatever you like... itll be fully configurable (to quite and insane level).

CrystalControl2 which will have the full 633 and FB2K support is probably a few months off release yet.

if you try something like a complete remote-control for foobar (LCD + IR) you should have a look for this plugin for winamp:

I am using it for half a year now with a stand-alone PC (fanless + nice audio) and I am damn happy. It´s imho the reference, but it would be nice, if you would beat it with your software :-)

What is the current status of the software?
In any case, from my point of view these things would be needed:
1.) Generic LCD-Display-support (jaLCD or good selfmade interface)
2.) Generic IR-support (Girder?)
3.) Albumlist-support: All albums must be browsable (browsing of the albums -> songs: would be a extra)
4.) Shutdown of the PC possible
