I have an audigy 2 platinum ex and creative 6700 speakers (6.1) I'd like to know if its possible to output to all speakers? I only get output from the front and rear surrounds, but not the front and rear center speakers...

I can play music in powerdvd player and I get full 6.1 output (aswell as dolby etc.. if I wish) which is nice, but I'd rather use winamp...

Thanks for reading. (I've tried the ac3 plugin...it doesnt seem to do the job very well for me...)

AFAIK winamp 2, aswell as 3 only support 4 speaker output.
I don't know if this changed in v5, but I guess not.

does your 6700 have real silent boxes then ? what about the options of the drivers and of the main control of your 6700 ? i think about processing stereo to surround ?!

if the software (winamp) doesn't support more than 4 speakers, there is absolutly no point in raising the volume. silence in the front speaker will sound the same if volume is raised: like silence dry.gif smile.gif

is 5.1 Center + Sub + !4 Speakers! to you ? or is it 6 speakers ?

i have a 5.1 playing with Audigy 1 Platinum eX to DTT3500 5.1 using QCD Player and mostly ogg files having windows use kx alternative drivers for creatives.

the DTT3500 control is chosen
Fourpoint 5.1 DIN (4 speakers or not? FOURPOINT :-P)
given an optical input
Multichannel DIGITAL DIN
dolby Pro Logic DIGITAL DIN

and all speakers give a sound

btw ... ive read VIA KT800 gives 7.1 or even 8.1 ...is this meant to be real ? it seems to be the same race rising like with cd-rom the past years.

you could have 1 billion speakers if your player does not support more than x speakers (AFAIK winamp supports output for FOUR speakers), you will not hear anything out of the fifth, sixth etc speaker...
I have a 5.1 system myself (the crappy aldi one), and front, rear and subw. are giving out sound, but not the center.

and now the fiiinaaal queeestion: why? yes! you're right, cause winamp only support 4 speakers (+ subw) biggrin.gif wink.gif

I'm planning on buying a Creative Labs Audigy 2 Platinum Pro ZS 7.1 coupled with Creative Labs Gigaworks 7.1Ch S750 THX Speaker System, so I *HOPE* something other than powerdvd will play my mp3's back in 7.1....I want to make use of all 7 70watt speakers to the fullest! Since 5.1> hardware is becoming more established I sure hope someone capitalises on it and makes winamp compat with more than 4 channel output...either that or release more DVD-A smile.gif
