Hey all-

I have been directed here by a friend from iPodlounge.com, the main community for iPod enthusiasts online. The reason for that is because I've been having trouble deciding what format to put my music in for my iPod (obviously taking into account sound quality and file size). I have found that even with resources such as HA, I've been unable to find completely straight-forward answers to my questions. Eventually after searching through these forums, I found what I was looking for.

But I thought that maybe I could make a website (possibly a community) dealing with digital formats for newbies. You know, something with obvious comparisons between popular formats. It works very well for me because I have a domain that is not being used, and a server that isn't being used (they formerly hosted my personal website, but that is no longer in use).

So I got to work last night and a bit this morning, and I've found that I will not be able to write everything by myself. The reason is obviously that I do not know enough about all of the music formats.

I came here again and decided to register and post this now. I would like to know if anybody has any interest in writing articles on anything related to music compression and formats, or if anybody would like to help host the site.

One must understand that I am not trying to make a website that will, by any means, replace HA. This site is an awesome resource, and answers are readily available. Like I mentioned before, I only want to make something that is very straight-forward.

If anybody has any interest in helping me out, please take a look at the site. The current address is www.maxf.org. If the site becomes what I want it to be, I will have the domain changed to something more relevant. It is all set up in Postnuke and the forums are in phpBB. That's all from the previous site.

If you decide that you'd like to help, please feel free to PM me, email me (at webedrummin22@hotpop.com), or reply here.

I hope that the mods of the forum don't take offense from this post. Please remember that I'm not trying to create a rival site for HA.

Thanks for reading all of this! Looking forward to hearing what people have to say smile.gif.

imo i don't think there is a need for it. most newbies who come to HA can use the search button to find what they are looking for or read the stickies. the info in the stickies is put in the most straight forward way as possible. if anything we should direct more people here.

Outscape-

I realize that it's very simple to come here and use the search function - that's what I did. But after my experience with iPodlounge.com, it's clear that some people just want answers and don't read the FAQs or use the search function. I just want to (a) use my website for something and (b) have an immediate resource for people just looking for quick answers. I hope that helps you understand where I'm coming from.
