Hello!

I am using OGG-Drop to encode my CDex-ripped WAV-Files from my CDs.

I am a little confused now about the available OGG-Drop versions:

OK, the P4optimized are compiled with the Intel-compiler wink.gif

But there are more versions, one normal, one GT3B1, GT3B2 etc.

I read the GT3B1 is better for higher bitrates? Normally, I encode with quality 5.5 (~172kbit/s).

What´s the (technical) difference between those?

Have a nice day!

For -q 4, and above, I would recommend you to use the GT3b1 version. It is better tuned for the higher bitrates than the 1.0.1 release.

Thx John.

And what´s the b2 release for?

The b2 release is not ready. There are some discrepancies with the b1 libs merged into 1.0.1 that are difficult to explain. I released it somewhat prematurely!! unsure.gif

So you think the b1 is ready for testing.

Does it have higher quality at higher bitrates than the normal release or is it faster? Just wanna know what´s the difference.

B1 has already been tested. It does generate slightly larger files at higher bitrates, but the quality improvement is well worth it. There is no speed difference.
