hello world!

i'm here besause i need some information about tags of vbr files.

i'd like to know how to get informations from a file about the bitrate, frequecy , number of frames etc.......

i know how to get those informations from a mp3 cbr...but for a vbr one, i have some trouble to find informations.....the first thing is that i founded that in the 36th byte after the beginning of the header we normally have "Xing" and that means it's a vbr file.....i don't know why but in one of mine i have "Vbri".....if someone could give me any information it will be nice.......or a simple link were i could read informations about that......and how to use bytes to get the informations i need....

thanX to everybody

Xing tags have a "dynamic" position based on the channel type and MPEG version, IIRC. They are used by LAME, Xing, GOGO and other encoders to denote that a file has variable bitrate.

FhG based encoders use the VBRI tag. Unlike the Xing tag, VBRI tags are stored at a static position.

I recommend downliding the Xing and VBRI SDK in order to obtain more information on what kind of information these tags store. Do a search on Hydrogen Audio. smile.gif

VBRI SDK: http://www.iis.fraunhofer.de/amm/download/...mp3_vbr_sdk.zip
Xing SDK: http://mysite.verizon.net/res1ur2j/XingHdr.zip

Maybe you can specify what you are trying to find out about the VBR file.
