I just downloaded the latest version of ImTOO DVD Audio Ripper (1.0.14) to extract my music DVD tracks. I did it becase it offered a simple way to extract audio but I wonder if it's a nice tool or not.

It has 2 output options: WAV and MP3. The MP3 option allows bitrate selection (doesn't state if its fixed or VBR) but I decided to go for sure using the WAV output and then a well-known compressor (EAC + lame -alt preset-) to get good quality MP3 files.

Did I go the right way? Is there a best way to do it (good quality, simple, fast?). I found a related topic but the latest posts are dated 2002, so I guess there may be newer tools or methods.

I've used DVDDecryptor for this kind of things recently. If the audio stream is in PCM format (uncompressed), I use Musepack for compression (no resampling necessary, while lame seems to have problems at 48kHz). If the audio stream is AC3, I just save them as AC3 files to avoid transcoding. Foobar2000 can play them back without problems.

Question about ImTOO DVD Audio Ripper: It doesn't rip DVD-A, does it? (Link?)

DVD-A ripping capabilities would be too good to be true

BTW ... is SSRC able to resample 192 kHz PCM ?

Tigre, ImToo DOES NOT support DVD-A. My main concern while using it is being sure there's no audio loss when extracting to WAV.

Does selecting WAV is definitively the right choice or there's any risk to code DVD audio tracks it to WAV?

Thanks again, and I will try your suggestions on software.
