If I get a Karma, how should I setup the naming scheme to be ripped into .flac? Thx

Because of the limited display space on portables I use the following scheme:
Artist\Album\Tracknumber. Track Title
Example:
Deep Purple\Shades of Deep Purple\06. Help!
If you want some more information:
artist\date-album\number-title
<edit>
If your files are tagged correcty an iRiver iHP-100/120 would display something like this:
CODE
2003-The Sound of The Spectacle
The Saddest Landscape
We Were Dancing an Hour
</edit>

I Use 'Artist - Album\Tracknumber. Tracktitle'
eg. Elton John - Songs From the West Coast\01. The Emperor's New Clothes
Edit: removed my stupid comments
doeesn't Rio Karma support id3 tags? I would just name it like this:
(01) - artist - song
name of album, year and stuff is stored in the id3v2 tag anyway...also if you just have songs from several albums I would get rid of the track number at all...
The Karma has no concept of file or directory names. What you name the files is irrelevant.
Just make sure you tag your files properly, including the track number if you want the Karma to be able to play albums in the original order. The Karma can also play music based on decade, so you should add the year tag as well.
Mine is:
artist\album [year]\01 trackname

Sorry, don't actually own a karma (although that kind of functionality is a damn good reason to buy one).
The iHPs offer both methods: You can select between a database/meta and a filesystem driven navigation and I actually prefer the filesystem one, since it speeds up the booting of the device and is no problem, if you have named your files properly.

I think I like this, how do I setup EAC with this naming scheme? Maybe I should remove the track number since I'll be ripping specific tracks and I would hate it if the filelist go from like 6,2,4,5,etc.
As a previous posted mentioned, the Karma doesn't really have any concept of filenames. It uses a propretary journaling filesystem which doesn't use filenames.
When files are uploaded to the Karma, thier metadata (ID3 tags) are stored in an xml database. Naming schemes don't really matter, you could use quite honestly use anything for the filename, as long as your tags are correct.
As for how it'll display on the Karma, the Karma displays song information in the following format:
CODE
Song Title
Artist
Album Name

well I haven't decided on which portable to get, but I would like to know what is the code to get the naming scheme that I requested on my last post? Thx
One thing to consider wrt limited display space is if you have track number tags then don't put the track number in the title as well. If the title is eg: "01 - Trio Sonata in D major"
That is 5 wasted characters at the start of every track and you lose part of the real name.
Thats a pain with a whole album of Trio Sonata's whose names only vary by the characters at the end.
If your player wants to play in file name order, ignoring track tag, then leave it in the file name, but you can still drop the 3 characters " - "

Anyone able to tell me how to setup EAC to output the naming scheme with
Artist\Album\Tracknumber. Track Title?
Maybe I'll remove the track number or something, but anyone able to help on that?

are you asking for this?
"%A\%C\%N. %T"
I am not sure because eac has a text box explaining that "%A" means "Artist".
