Hi,

i was wondering if there is any guide on how to use nencode.exe with EAC or similar. I would be interested in such a guide, because i plan to encode with EAC and Nero AAC.

Another request: Can anybody please send me 'mfc71.dll' ? I cannot find it on Google and it is needed by nencode.exe...PM me please.

thx

The tg.exe is a tagging program that can tag aac files... do a search if you need it.

Okay, once you have all of these files in one folder, lets say c:\nencode, go to eac's compression options. Check "use external program for compression". Set parameter scheme to "user defined encoder." Set file extension to .m4a. Set program used for compression as "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CMD.EXE". For "additional command line options," paste the following (modify if you are using a different directory than c:\nencode):

/c c:\nencode\nencode.exe %s %d && c:\nencode\tg.exe %d --artist "%a" --album "%g" --track "%n" --title "%t" --genre "%m" --year "%y"

Make sure "add id3 tag" is unchecked. For "bit rate" you can put anything, it is only used to "guess" the compressed file size of each track. A good choice is 192 if you are using the "transparent" preset.

Okay, now that you have that set up, go to the nencode directory and doubleclick nencode.exe. Choose a compression preset from the top drop-down menu and click okay. Most likely you will want to use the "transparent" setting.

I hope this helps.

Wow,

That was the best explanation of how to use nencode I have ever seen. Other explanations have been a bit cryptic and hard to follow for me. With this info, I can quit using eziiencode to use the nero aac encoder. I second the thank you for the info.

I think that with the newest versions of Nero, the file is not required.

theese kind of statements are best not voiced in this forum I guess.

The file isn't required, you don't need it with the newest version of nero6 i just tried it and it works without it. AAC could use some easier ways to encode and some guides on how to use it and which are the best encoding methods. If this happened it could really take off as a format. Are there any portable cd players that support AAC?

There was one Philips Expanium, but I don't remember the model.

Maybe you could try Google.

Edit: There you go

When I use TG.EXE as a AAC-tagger, iTunes doesn't accept the tags. And vice-versa - when I edit tags in iTunes TAG.EXE shows nothing.
What is the reason and which command-line tagger may write the "right" tags for iTunes? Is iPod shows the same tags as iTunes?
Thank you.

Make sure you use richard123's mp4 tagger, which can be found in this thread.

Yes, I'm sure I use richard123's tagger (I tried several versions). All the same - AAC, tagged with richard123 is opened without any tags in iTunes. And vice-versa, richard123's utility doesn't see iTunes tags...
What's wrong?
Please, advice...

This may sound silly, but are you sure you have the extension set to .m4a and NOT .mp4?

Hi,

I wrote a command line encoder based on NEncode which does not require the Nero DLL's to be present in the same directory. It also does not need the MFC DLL's.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the tool needs Nero to be installed.

Download it here:
