Hi!

I have a M-Audio Sonica USB soundcard with a SPDIF output.
I have no problem getting a PCM signal to my receiver, but I have not succeeded in getting an AC3 stream over the SPDIF output. I tried the following programs:

- PowerDVD, tells me: SPDIF not detected
- WinDVD, tells me: SPDIF not detected
- BSPlayer with ac3filter: I can select SPDIF, but do not get any sound.

The specs of the sonica say:

QUOTE
digital output supports PCM and passes Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC3), Dolby Pro Logic and DTS

I use the newest Sonica driver. I run windows XP on an Acer Travelmate 800.

Suggestions how to solve this problem are very welcome!

thanks,

I was unable to get SPDIF pass through to work with AC3Filter 0.70. I had to downgrade to 0.68b and it worked fine. It might be the same for you.

Were you able to get AC3 via WinDVD or PowerDVD?

In the device manager: do you also see something like "USB audio" under "Sound Video and Game Controllers", where one would expect "Sonica"?
