Is there any Plugin that shows how often a song, album and artist was played? Something like
madStats Statistics for Winamp ?

Unfortantely in plugin status it just says
"Unable to handshake: sleeping..." and doesn't work.

edit: nm simple fix just restart foobar.

Is there anyone here with the expertise to recompile the audiscrobbler plugin against an earlier compiler version? - I don't really want to install 25MB of .NET just to get the plugin!

Some MS software comes with .net if you have a slow connection. You might want to look around, particularly on recent versions VS.

It didn't need full .NET framework, just msvcr71.dll. Anyway, redownload the plugin to get smaller MSVC6 compile that does not require extra dlls.
I get the following error after I install Audioscrobbler.

. I'll release a newer version shortly to fix this.
I get another error! It is a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error. Maybe I should re-insall the .NET Framework.
Oh crap. No, it shouldn't need the .NET framework any more.
What's the full text of the error?
It says:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\PROGRAM FILES\FOOBAR2000\FOOBAR2000.EXE
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
Foo_audioscrobbler1.2.1 crashes foobar every time you try to update or reload tags. 1.2 works well.
edit: it instantly crashes, doesn't show/write any crash log.
Sorry about all this, I didn't test that build very well.
Try
this.

I still get the same problem. I have uninstalled/installed multiple times. I do not know what the problem is. I will try it with WMP9 to see if it is just my machine.

I figured that since I haven't changed anything that'd fix that. However I haven't the faintest idea what causes that error. It probably qualifies Microsoft for the "most unhelpful error ever" award though.
The WMP9 plugin uses completely different code, so that's not really much help.

Great plugin!
Small issue, when having an album with multiple artists, it get submitted with the wrong album name.
I would like to have an option simular to the one already there for the replaygain scanner called: "album grouping pattern" so correct album artist title will be sent.
Thanks!
It's not the wrong album name - it's just that each artist/album combo comes in as a different album.
Our database can't yet support various artists albums properly, that's near the top of our priorities to fix (when we fix it, all the old albums should be fixed too).

Oh i didnt know that

I Still hope you'll add the album grouping pattern option when your database will support various artists albums.

Current audioscrobbler website doesn't display umlauts and refuses to load the appropriate track-page with Opera 7.23.
This is a temporary bug - we're upgrading.

sorry to ask this but i couldn't find the answer anywhere in this thread or on the site:
how does the site know which user I am? I registered etc, but there is no way to fill anything in during installation for fb2k...
Does it use ip's?
DotNoir
Jan 4 2004, 12:39
You have to configure your user name in the components menu (foobar2000->preferences->components->audioscrobbler)
snek_one
Jan 4 2004, 12:46
yeah, the first time i started up fb2k that option was not there... second time it was

songs are taking quite a while to submit though...
are multiple filenames cached and then sent as 1 package?
DotNoir
Jan 4 2004, 12:47
...not that I know...
IMO it sends every song individually
At least the older versions cached played songs if it was unable to send them.
DotNoir
Jan 4 2004, 13:37
Oh... didn't know that...
Hmmm... then you should check the status field in the preferences and see what it says.
edit. Did some little research, It said "Submitting cache..." when I disabled internet access for foobar2000, but after enabling the access it only submitted the song I was currently playing (~30 minutes of disabled internet access)
edit2. Now there are also the songs from the cache... so, yes, it caches the songs. Sorry, my bad, but it didn't display them at the same time it already displayed the most recent song. So yes, the cache works... Also for me it seems it takes ~3 minutes from starting foobar2000 to see the song playing in the page... Again this "information" is from little observation only...
@russ:
i am stupid or something... how do i get it to suggest a song etc.?
Sorry, I apparently stopped getting e-mail notifications for this topic.
- Yes it does cache songs.
- A song is submitted or entered into the cache half way through the song
- We don't have recommendations on the site yet, we're working on it.

Great plugin, but I can't seem to get it to work behind my company's authenticating web proxy. Even with the correct info filled out in the preference page, it always says: "Unable to handshake: sleeping..." in the status box.

an option to only submit songs that are in foobar's database would be awesome. I'd rather not have every random song I listen to get submitted.

According to the

What a great plugin. I hadn't heard of Audioscrobbler before, and I didn't notice this thread until russ revived it yesterday.

Audioscrobbler rocks. The only problem is that I look at my most played artists and some are awful, reflecting the fact I sometimes leave my PC playing the whole playlist when I go away. I then have to queue up some decent tunes to bring my credibility back

Hi there - I'm still getting the error message that was reported above by camote... does anyone have the time and enthusiasm to fix this? Thanks!
I installed foobar2000 version 0.7.7a and then the audioscrobbler plugin 1.2.1, which was ignored by foobar. Then I installed audioscrobbler plugin 1.2.1a, which makes foobar crash on start with the quoted message. foobar2000 version 0.7.7b didn't make anything better. Since then I've upgraded the id3v2 tag dll, but that hasn't had any effect on audioscrobbler plugin either.
I'd be really grateful for someone to fix this audioscrobbler plugin! My audioscrobbler works well on Winamp, but not at all on foobar2000.

How often does this plugin update stats ? For ex. when I'm offline, will it cache all songs and send them to page, when I connect to internet ?

@Diablo
I haven't had the foobar plugin working on my computer, but the Winamp plugin for Audioscrobbler submits every track you play immediately if you're connected to internet. And when you're not connected it saves them into a cache file, which gets sent all in one go as soon as you connect to internet again. (But it then takes a while before the cached songs appear on the audioscrobbler website. Sometimes you don't see them in the "last played" list because the list is too short and the cached files all go through at once. In the stats - artist, song, album etc - they're definitely counted, even if you've never seen the cached song in the "last played" list.)
I assume that the foobar plugin works like this too.
PS Sometimes, apparently, the audioscrobbler server can get busy and tell the plugin to send the songs only every x minutes (and caching locally in-between), but I haven't seen that happening.
Hope this helps.
