My version of EAC stopped working the other week so I uninstalled it and installed 0.95 beta 3. Still nothing. The opening screen appears along with the hourglass, but the hourglass never disappears. This is with CDs in both the burner and the CD-ROM player.
I'm on Windows 98SE, using a Cendyne 40X12X40 burner, and Nero to burn the discs. I had good results until the program stopped working. Any suggestions? Should I wait for version 1.0?
Thanks for your help.

I've seen this happen when switching CD-ROM's in the system. I'd recommend you fire up RegEdit and remove the EAC settings from the registry, and remove the EAC program directory in its entirety and then reinstall and give it a try.

Ahh.. There's your problem.. You're running Win98SE..

Did it suddenly do this or did it gradually happen?

Simba: Suddenly. I tried to start the program and it hung. Is it a Win98SE issue with that version of EAC?
TrNSZ: I followed your instructions (deleted settings from registry, reinstalled and reconfigured EAC) and it seemed to be working fine until I took the CD out of the CD-ROM drive (two drives on the computer, EAC recognized both). It froze and I heard the strangest noise coming from the computer (possibly the head trying to write to the hard drive? it was scary). I had to power it down because Ctrl-alt-delete didn't work. After it started back up EAC seemed to be fine. I haven't tried to use it today so I don't have any horror stories to report.
Thanks for your help.

According to aspichk, I have APIX.VXD 4.71.2 and WNASPI32.DLL 4.71.2. "ASPI is fully installed and operational" is grayed out. Will going back to ASPI 4.6 cure the EAC problem, even though it worked fine the few times I used it?
Why don't you use
Nero's ASPI Layer. Extract and put into EAC folder and select "Installed External ASPI Interface".
I think other ASPI layers mess with the OS. You just want EAC to run properly.

atici: Isn't that the wnaspi32.dll file? When EAC originally stopped working I copied wnaspi32 and placed the copy in the EAC folder. EAC wouldn't start at all. I got a message that it couldn't be initialized because the file hadn't been installed correctly. Can you tell me what I didn't do to keep EAC happy? Thanks.
Try what I said before and it should work.

Hmmm. That's exactly what I did after I read your post and the message was the same. Is there something I need to do besides copying the file and dropping it in the program folder?
Not copy the file from Windows directory but download it from Nero site (my previous link) and extract it to EAC's folder. Try it again. If you installed other ASPI layers, try uninstalling them.

I took the downloaded file, dragged it to the folder, then double-clicked on the EAC icon. The message (with a NeroApix header) this time was: Could not open driver. Tryng system ASPI. EAC started fine. Under EAC Options, the "Installed external ASPI Interface" button was highlighted.
