Full Version: Disc Repair Pro or Motorized SkipDoctor?

Chaos Mutant
I've been recently thinking about buying a motorized CD repairing device,
but now I must say I'm a little confused.

I've heard different opinions about the final result SkipDoctor's achieved.
For example, the CD's surface looks a bit weird in the end (after the grinding).
Then again, some say that good buffing will make the grinded surface look and
reflect almost like new again.

I wonder what the results are like in Disc Repair Pro. DRP's obviously somehow different
since its U.S. patent is different than SD's. (SD 5,423,103 & DRP 6,199,238B1)

There are some CDs that have these little black crumbs which have gotten inside
the plastic layer and thus block the laser completely. They certainly can't be polished
away, so I guess SD's grinding is the only and most gentle cure there is to it.
I wonder if it's food of the previous users or some dirt from their CD players...

Edit: layout change

I highly recommend the Skip Dr. It has saved many discs that were absolutely destroyed. The DRP looks like like it does much the same thing (grind the polycarbonate surface). What worries me is that it looks like it does it circularly.

Are you sure those aren't small scrathes/pits from the label side?
