Hello

I want to create an audio CD with tracks from several sources. The whole problem is that not all tracks sound equally loud and I don't want to loose the sounds dynamics.

I have tried with normalizing but I don't like the results. I have have also read about mp3gain.

Can someone describe how to achieve a good compilation CD where
1. the volume does not keep changing all the time and
2. keeping good sound dynamics.

How do professional studio achieve this?

I would really appreciate if someone could give a practical guide on how to achieve this. I think many people deal with the same problem.

Thank you

You can use Burrrn to burn your CD. It is able to Replaygain all your Files before burning. This should do what you want. If the files come from different Sources I suggest using TrackGain.

TrackGain is what you want. Another option would be to use foobar2000 and its Diskwriter.

I use WaveGain on the ripped *.wav files with the following settings:

- Radio Gain mode
- Extra Gain of + 6db (the standard 89db is too quiet for my tastes)
- 6 db hard limiter
- dither with medium noise shaping

Once WaveGain is applied, I then use Burnatonce to write the files to disc and enjoy.

You can do that directly from burnatonce, just setup the commandline as you want in the ini.
