Hello, here's the deal. I need to encode my mp3's from Mpeg 2 Layer 3 to Mpeg 1 Layer 3 and I can't figure out how to do this w/ Razor. I have dbpower amp also, but it seems to take forever. I'd like a faster program. Please help me out here!!

Thanks!!!

I am not expert on this but just about all I have read about transcoding is negative. Why do you want to transcode these files? There can be no quality improvement. huh.gif

Hey, I have to. My Sony mp3 cd player will not play anything other than mpeg 1 layer 3. So, if I want to play a lot of the mp3's that I have, I really don't have much of a choice in the matter. I have to convert them over. biggrin.gif

This sounds strange. MPEG 2 Layer 3 is only used for very low sampling rates. The only way to get these files in MPEG 1 Layer 3 would then be to resample and encode that. No way to do that quickly!

dbpoweramp pretty much acts as a front-end coordinator. If the encoding is taking too long, then it is lame (the default mp3 encoder for dbpoweramp) that is taking the time. What setting are you using? Some of the presets have "fast" options that aren't as optimal, but are... faster. You can also set it up to use a different encoder using the "cli codec" option.
