Hi,

What options do I have if I want to connect my computer to my hifi which are located in separate rooms? 802.11b? Cable (the distance is around 15 meters, the "cable-way")? Other wireless technologies?

At the moment, I'm on a low-end hifi system, so if 15 meters of cable is possible at all, I'll take that route. But if cable isn't an option at all, what's my best choice within $200-300?

Best regards,

Anders

I've heard of people using those wireless X-10 modules, or connectors.

I also heard you can use these for video, too. I'm looking into this because my dad has a crap load of these things in the basement, when he used to install burglar systems.

Have to do more research.

So, you want to get line-level signal from the machine to the amplifier. Your concern is signal loss and inerference. The first is handled with thick cable and gain/volume control, the second, with shielding or balancing.

I think the proper answer is balanced cable, but I also think it tends to get expensive.

Try to run 15 meters of coax cable (TV antenna stuff). You could use the core and the shield as two conductors of a single channel, or run two cables per channel and ground the shield.

But frankly, I don't know what I'm talking about. ;-)
