layer break removal and automatic audio and subtitle stream selection via preferences...

Sweet!

I would have liked some engine tweaks also, but I am sure that is coming soon...

Too bad the need for transcoding software seems to be heading for extintion, as Dual-Layer DVD burners should start appearing this spring.
If the media is priced right, everything will be over for all of us with "normal" burners.

Nice piece of software. I am doing a test backup right now. cool.gif

after some problems (e.g the 'nero-issue'), a bugfixversion has been released: 3.1.1.

This software made me give up DivX... wink.gif , it is brilliant and even if development stops right now it will be used by millions for a loooong looong time. I did not test the latest version yet, but I am sure that by automating burning and other stuff it will be even easier to backup DVD's.
One question is the author involved with Ahead ? we discussed something like that before and if he is how will this impact recode & DVDShrink.

ok, that's the way to do it dry.gif it really seems that Ahead bought the developer. The future seems to be in Nero Recode2 huh.gif

Hmm, I think the future is Dual Layer.

About discontinuing development... mixed feelings here. I am glad that he is getting payed and I am sad to see one of the few FREE good things out there dissapear.

All I hope for now is that my drive (Sony DRU-500A) can be made Dual Layer through FW update (and that Sony is willing to do so). Pioneer showed Dual Layer recording on the CES on a FW-updated A06, so it is possible.

Oh, and there is another bug-fix.

Dual layer means disk flipping correct ?

No - dual layer discs don't require flipping - they hold twice the amount of current dvd-r's by having two layers rather than two sides. Just like most movie dvd's.

I woudn't say that there's no need anymore for apps like that. of course, it might become a little less important for home use, but there's one the one the one hand still need for streaming purposes, on the other hand it will take some time untill average joe will have a dvd-burner.
