Hi,

I have a bunch of mp3's with ID3v1 and APE v2.0 tags. The track titles are very long, so ID3v1 is useless, and frankly so is APE v2.0, because it can't be read by Winamp nor my hardware mp3 player (nor ID3-TagIT).

What I want to do is transfer the APE v2.0 tags to ID3v2 so that I can see the full track titles in Winamp and my Creative MP3 player. The two tools I used to insert the APEv2 tags don't write ID3v2.

How can I do this?

Thanks.

Frontah can do this.

First go to Settings -> Tagging -> Advanced. Double-click on .mp3 and make sure only ID3v2 is selected. Use version 3.0 for best compatibility.

Add your mp3s, press ctrl+a (to select all) then right-click and select Tagging -> Convert/Update Tag Format.

This will update all your .mp3 files to ID3v2 tags and remove any other tags (such as ID3/APEv2).

use foobar2000 with the id3v2 component and set it to write id3v1+id3v2 tags.
its at
Foobar2000 -> Prefrences
Playback -> Input -> Standard Input

load all of the files into the playlist and select all and right click to file info, then click update files. It should have seen full fields from the apev2 tags, but will write id3v1 and id3v2. Also you can go to the masstagger -> edit tags and just click "run" without entering any actions.

I used the foobar2000 masstagger method, becuase I already had this downloaded.

Thanks again.
