are unofficial concert recordings illegal? or are they fine for personal (but not commercial) use? what are the stances of the major labels? anyone know of any bands that encourage bootlegs? is there any way to legally obtain concert recordings? (other than cds the band releases)

the situation is quite different now.. then 15-20 years ago..
today.. a record company..(etc. EMI) releases a cd AS a bootleg..
(just for the name..)

but a bootleg is a recording released without the owners permission..
aka. the band/artist get a hole lot of PR. but the company
do not make a single $ on it..

for 10-15-20 years ago.. when ppl. talked about getting a bootleg..
some did say.. ex: "NO. don`t.. the artist looses money on it..
is that what you wan`t.."

this is BS.

i say.. feck it.. the artist(s) do save big money on ex: PR..
for the company's to loose money.. serves them right..
the performers do not get that big $. etc. maybe a dollar for each track..
(if there lucky..)
