In revision 0 of the LAME header specs, VBR method 5 is "vbr-new / vbr-mt", in the current revision 1 of the specs method 5 is listed as only "vbr mt". So what is "vbr new" ? Testing LAME with --vbr-new seems to put it in VBRmethod 4 (vbr-mtrh) - is that the new "vbr-new"?

Also, the current specs list a 6th VBR method "full VBR method4", but that method is not named in the list below - what is VBR method #6 called?

And while I'm at it:
bytes $A7-$AA : 32 bit floating point "Peak signal amplitude"
Should be changed to 8.24 fixed-point from LAME 3.94b1 onwards

At the beginning, vbr-new was an alias to vbr-mt.
vbr-mt as been removed in favor of vbr-mtrh.
vbr-new is now an alias to vbr-mtrh

I presume this change happened before version 3.90? This is based on the fact that 3.90 writes vbr method 4 to the lame tag when --vbr-new is used. And the help doesn't indicate a way to select any other vbr method than vbr-old and vbr-new.

Is this correct? And therefore as lame tags were only written from 3.90 onwards, is it correct to say that any lame tag showing vbr method 4 indicates --vbr-new (aka mtrh)? And that at present there will not be any files with lame tags showing vbr method 5 or 6?
