I Don't beleive their are any of these manufactured yet though surely it's just a matter of time since the technology is their, though still maybe not small and light enough to make this idea practicle

Already I've seen small mp3 and wrist watch mp3 players , the ultimate next step in free style portable music listenning for me would be some clip on headphones ,headphones that are completely wireless though still supply CD quality sound because the headphone ..earbuds have an inbuilt flash memory for wave or mp3,ogg etc music.

I guess it's just a matter of getting the electronic components & batterys small and light enough and this idea will become a reality.

Well, I think what would be sooner on my list is a merger of currently existing technologies. You can already buy a wireless Bluetooth headset from Logitech for your computer, so why not a set of bluetooth headphones and a bluetooth enabled MP3 player?

Then you could get like an iPod with bluetooth in it and have wireless headphones for it...

Sounds ok , problem is with wireless headphones their would be a significant sound loss,or do these bluetooth headphones use some way of wireless technology that can preserve the audio.

Thats why I think the 'in ear' mp3 player combined headphones would be so cool, because it would be wireless by design and retain all the original audio quality.

Even stretching the idea more having a headset with a built in wireless internet connection and on board mp3 player so you could listen to 128 + internet broadcasts whilst on the move.

Bluetooth can move data at 723kbits/sec. depending on what's doing the decoding you should easily be able to transfer enough data to the headphones using lossy codecs (lossless would be out of the question, unfortunately)

As far as that other idea, wireless internet is too far off as of right now, though sattellite radio could definitely do that....

TDK makes a set of headphones with an integrated MP3 player. It's expensive as crap, though, and rather ugly. http://www.tdk.com/cdmp3/mojo1.html
