As far as I am aware, Quicktime does not yet support this. Is there any way of encoding 5.1 AAC (ideally HE-AAC) on the MAC?

You can only encode to LC AAC, using FAAC.

There's RealAudio 10 Multichannel, but I'm not sure about Mac compatibility.

Ok, thanks guys. I was actually checking for appleguru. Didn't realise he frequented these parts.

Any release dates from Apple yet?
