euh... I want to transcode my mpc's to mp3z (some original albums are damaged) but how to do that in Linux? Someone can tell me? I dont know too much about it, and I dont wanna loose all tags - and I dont want to do it by hand, cuz its about alot songs...

and, yes, I know transcoding isnt clever. But its just for listening on the pc, with silly speakers, and I go from insane mpc to 128kb/sec mp3... so I dont think it makes much difference compared to re-ripping, which isnt possible anyway....

how damaged are the CDs? i've been able to rip CDs with holes in with EAC (so long as no blemishes are longer than 2mm radially). of course that's windows...

Can you do some linux scripting ?

I've made a script which transcodes an album from MPC->OGG and keeps most tags. Maybe you could adapt it.

By the way, I wonder if someone made a library for reading APEv2 tags. My program parses the mppdec output, which is a dirty method biggrin.gif

the cd's are heavilly damaged, eac can't make anything of it, neither can the linux tools for reading cd's. and it locks up my pc, too, occasional (crashes winblows, but thats easy isnt it).

so I need to transcode...
