it would be useful if there is an option to rescan the actual media folders for new media files.

I was thinking the same thing, is this possible? I'd love to have this feature.

foobar uses playlists, so its not directly possible. However you could readd the entire directory and then use remove duplicates.

Could someone make a plugin that does this automatically every so often? I find that my "everything" playlist has to be updated every so often, and it's a pain to have to remember to do it.

i like this idea. makes things a lot simpler.
