Hi, I'm new to losses audio compression.
I've used mp3, mpc and ogg but I dont know where to start with lossless.
Which lossless encoder and settings do you recommend?

Use the search engine, for God's sake!

There have been a zillion discussions of this so please use the search.

If you use windows only monkeys audio (.ape) is a good choice. FLAC if you want to play them on other OSes.
Flac gives larger files than ape but has been ported to several platforms.

.la and .ofr have very good compression but are slow compare to flac and ape.

Not only for the Wiki page, I think there should be a BIGGER TOS link too.

Maby someone should make a guide like for Ogg Vorbis and MPC and MP3. I would also like to see a guide for AAC.

Those things exist, you just have to spend more time with the FAQ, the Wiki and the search forum. They do no exist as a "walkthough" guide, if that is what you want, but they are undestandable enough and very good.

About lossless, well, since quality is not an issue here, you have to read a lot of the Lossless Forum's threads to learn about the various codec's advantages and disadvantages. It should provide all the answers you need.

Me too.
But sincerely, noone is going to write it, so reading threads will have to do it for us. smile.gif
