Hey whats up guys my name is Greg and I'm new here I am fairly versed in the computer world but not as much as many of you I'm sure hence me asking for a little help. I recently discovered the Internet Archive website which has many live shows from many bands of the "jam" genre. I have been trying for near a week now to figure out how to change these lossless shorten files to wav on my computer with various programs and none of them seem to work, and none of my friends seem to know anything either. My setup is a dell with pentium 4 and windows xp, my internet is aol, any help or tips at all would be greatly appreciated I have experimented very much and have become overly frustrated, maybe I'm just over looking something thanks.

Thanks for the links guys but I can't seem to figure out the problem I drag and drop the file into mkwACT and nothing happens and if I right click the file and select to open it with the mkwMenu, the menu pops up and none of the buttons do anything and the text box on top says this:
Volume in drive "C:\Documents and Settings\Greg\My Documents\My Music\Umphrey's McGee\um2002-02-01.shnf.zip" has volume label

Couldn't seem to find answers within those links, thanks again

Go here: http://home.wanadoo.nl/~w.speek/speek.htm and pick up Multi Frontend (near the bottom of the page). Go to the locations button, locations tab (third one along IIRC. Set the location for the shorten.exe. Add files, select encoder Shorten, select the option -x and hit go. Your Shorten files should be decoded to wave files in the source dir. smile.gif

If I'm reading right the SHN is still in the Zip file, isn't it?

Extract the SHN from the Zip, then drop it on mkw.

Or does mkw read inside Zip files?

I downloaded multi front end but I can't even unzip the folder it says the folder is "invalid or corrupt", what does that mean? thanks again for helping out a mere novice

mkwACT does not read inside zip files.

shnf normally means a folder full (a show) of separate shn files, one for each audio track.

shnf.zip suggests it's a large file, of many shns zipped up
