Hi all, i need to let windows media player take in a new file type. Any expert here know how to do that?
From what i understand, I need to reg a dll file using regsvr32, to reg the new file type. But i am wondering how does the OS know that the dll file is for WMP itself and not other programs? and what do i need to include in the dll file prog to include a new file type?
I have even tried to go to regedit to add in a new supported filetype for windows Media player in hope tat when I open my WMP it can take in a new format, but it does not work.
Sorri I know i sounds very noob, and I am..=(

I have also tried the following files at rarewares files which i suppose should allows me to play aac in my WMP:

1.The CoreAAC directshow filter
2.AAC parser filter for DirectShow 2003-11-25

but it seems that my WMP still cannot take in a new format(*.aac) in this case. Anyone can help?
And what is actually a parser, is that something of an interface for the WMP to make use of the CoreAAC directshow filter?

Thanks for all your patience.
