I ripped a cd today using EAC .9 beta3. No errors. I preceeded to Encode (MPC encoder 1.02) using speeks MPC batch encoder 2.1.0. My encode setting are --insane --nmt12 --tmn32
Started listening to it on Winamp 2.80 (mpc Musepac plugin 0.93) came up with an error message.
Out of Sync
Lost sync in file "c:MusicNazarthGreatest Hits 6-Hair of The Dog .mpc" Frame #4437/9480
This message also appeared In 3 other tracks on this cd. Any ideas what i've done wrong?
Well, i have realy strange behaviour with my .mpc's, namely:
if some freshly encoded files get outofsync errors i simply reboot
if still there are errors then reencode
even funny: 'clean' files sometimes cause outofsync, and again play fine after reboot...
So if you doesn't have crappy HDD or buggy system, which i have, simply reencode.
Rebooting doesn't work. I,ve tried to decode the tracks and it stops on the out of sync frame. I was hoping for a cure for the problem instead of a just a band-aid like reencoding that would mean I would have to listen to every track I encode to make sure there is no problem. HELP!!
Is there a sync error if you just encode the small clip over the section where the sync error happens?

This can be due to EAC adding damaged id3v2 tags.
disable writing of id3v2 tags in EAC and see if it sorts the problem.

Is there any method around this when you don't have the source disc?
Strip the ID3V2 tag? That's rather commonly needed, so a tool for that should be easy to find.

Thanks for the tip. I found tag.exe. It turns out there was no such tag present anyway.
What else might cause loss in sync? I would really like to salvage this batch of files if possible. They were originally encoded using EAC and mppenc 1.14.
