I tend to want most of my albums as ape/cue (or ape/embedded cue) single files, but at times, I'd like to convert it to MP3s, with songs being separate files. The diskwriter wants to convert the file as a whole, not the subsongs. How do I make it split the resulting MP3?

Thanks,
David Nordin
apparently you're completely lost in your purpose..
Rethink what you want to to and how you're operating this.

What you describe that you want APE+CUE converted to separate MP3 files is standard manuever. You must be doing something in a very weird manner indeed.

Actually I'm having the same problem. I have an ape file and a cue file and when I load the cue into foobar I want to split them up into individual ape songs, but it only outputs the same ape album in one file. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, just not sure what it is though..

I just tried again and I have an odd result. When I select all of the files in the playlist from the cue and use diskwriter, it converts the first file, but it names it after the artist and album, not the song. Then when diskwriter goes on to the second song, it asks to overwrite the first. How can I avoid this?

What about checking diskwriter properties for file name formatting?

The question didn't get answered. I'll ask in my own way. I have a downloaded album consisting of an .ape file and a .cue file. The .ape file plays fine but it's the entire album. I burn it to disk and don't have individual cuts -- I can't forward from cut to cut.

How do I separate the songs into individual .ape files? Then, how do I burn an audio CD with individual songs?

A continuous album is relatively worthless.

I just discovered flac and monkey's audio a few days ago so I don't know doodly.

Any help here?

Play back the .cue instead of the .ape, the same goes for burning: (In case you use Burrrn) just drag'n'drop the .cue file on the program window. (In both cases the .cue must be in the same directory as the .ape).
