@frozenspeed: hm til now I dont have any problems and the files play perfect
@Benjamin Lebsanft: I dont know, I didn't really test it yet with my headphones (Sennheiser HD600). I think Joint Stereo is a good thing for 128k mp3 were small file sizes are needed, so you might save many KBs by using Joint Stereo and then you have more space for better encoding quality at other freqs.
but I dont know why I should use this feature in such a high bitrate preset. maybe it works still good in lame but why should I change something if I'm satisfied with normal Stereo on my uncompressed audio CDs... maybe Joint Strereo has a better strereo effect as sinmple strereo does but I dont want any sound tuning, I just want my files to be 1:1 copies from the CD (as good as possible with the extreme preset)
my CDs on my normal standalone CDplayer sound better with an edison strereo image enhancer too (or my Equalizer, whatever), but I wouldn't re-recorde all my CDs just because of this
no sound tuning => I want them to be original.
maybe I'm wrong in this respect, because I'm pretty new with the lame encoder. but my mp3s sound good with simple strereo. but I will test them with my headphone real soon.
@Jan S.: yes. I disabled EAC to tag my Mp3s. I think lame will do it correctly.
I have some decent taggers too and I use them for my untagged files but why using a decent tagger if I can have it in one step. (and the files don't need to be rewritten, which coats time too

)
