After reading the LAME 3.95.1 Stable Released post on page 3 here...

I am curious whether or not LAME 3.95.1 writes a replaygain tag to your MP3s automatically when you encode. I looked at the switches and only found a --replaygain-accurate switch that says it uses a more accurate version of replaygain on your MP3s which makes me wonder even more if a replaygain tag is automatically written. I looked in Foobar2000 and it says that no replaygain tags have been written to my encoded MP3s but I just want to clarify this.

My understanding is that it writes the information only to the LAME header tag, so it's not actually being used by anything yet, but it is there for future possibilities.
