i want to mess around with encoding in mpc, but i'd like to use a quick and simple encoding interface, like lamedropxpd or razorlame for lame mp3. what would my best solution be so i could start messin around with encoding mpc files yet keep it very simple, but still be able to change the command line, or use pre-configured like --alt-preset extreme for lame.

thanks,

You can get MuseDrop at my site. (Bottom of the message)

It's a drag-and drop frontend similar to OggDrop and LameDropXPd, and supports custom command lines.

It can be used as decoder for mppdec too.

is this file up to date? or do i need to download a dll or exe file to bring the codec that is used up to date? thanks much

It's just a frontend.

You'll need mppenc.exe to encode your files.

And the program is a standalone (Delphi), so you probably won't need any dll or stuff like that.

Speek's MPC Batch Encoder also works well. Just configure it with the latest mppenc.exe and you're set!

it has already been said... but:

i have always used one of speek's many frontends... whatever the format.

they are very simple and as spiffy as i like programs to be [absolutely no bloatware here, eh roberto?]

get speek's frontends here:

[although i prefer to use the old w2l v1.2 over the current wave2lame]

there are other programs out there that do the job well, but as a vbLamer fan, speek's frontends rock.

I don't get it.
Are you calling layer3maniac's frontends (what I suggested here) bloatware???

Also do try out NABE (Not Another Batch Encoder). It will work for the Frank's version of mppenc and also supports OGG, MP3, APE for now. Moreover the 'accented characters in filename' problem (once reported to me by Speek) doesn't occur in NABE.

Just that I haven't got time in the past few weeks to update it...there a few cosmetic (not so serious) bugs.

This problem is fixed in the latest versions.

When I use the latest version of speeks encoder along with Franks mpcenc and I try to add a command line in the preset window it gives me an error and just encodes with the "standard" profile. What am I doing wrong? Even when I just put this "--braindead" it doesn't work. ????

Are you sure you have the latest versions of both the frontend and the encoder (mppenc.exe). A few months ago the command-line interface of the encoder changed, so an old encoder doesn't go with a new frontend and vice versa.

Oops. thanks speek. Never mind. biggrin.gif ohmy.gif
