hi
is possible to compare 2 files with cool edit?
Copy, then Mix Paste... (invert the data) on the other file. Try the statistics function on the remainder.

A specific function for comparison isn't available in Cool Edit.
Menno's post is a good idea. I suggest to zoom in after pasting to see the (possible) differences.
If you want to perform a superficial comparison you can just open both files, switch directly between them and compare them by looking.
If you want to test, if two very similar files are identical, I recommend using EAC's "wav compare" (Enable the option "determine differences more exactly" in the wav editor options; by default it is enabled.) If the files are identical, EAC will show an empty window after comparison. If they are nearly identical, EAC will, for example, show "different samples" and name a position.

Brrrr. The best depends on several factors. For example, if price matters a lot for you, Audacity is probably the best.
Xenion: It's a good idea to use "IMO" in such case. ;-)
My personal favourite is Seq'd Sequoia.
Adobe Audition fits my personal needs best.
