http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/index.php?language=enthese are alternative drivers for creative cards.
apperantly they sound better but their EAX support isnt nearly as good as creative drivers. so if you play a lot of eax games dont use them.
i havent tried but I am really wondering if I will hear any difference cause some people claim here www.driverheaven.net that mp3 playback is better with foobar2000 and kX drivers.

and other stuff.
there drivers do have a few features though which are very very good for music making etc, but sound quality improvement?
I dont believe it but some input from you guys would be cool
The only thing they do to cause a notable(?) improvment of audio quality is switching front and rear channels, since the rear channel is said to have better quality output.

yeah. all the user comments are from people who make music on their pc and need real low latency and like the route (?) stuff differently etc.
no use for me then cause all I do is stereo playback.
but its really cool anyway that these drivers exist

I'd like to see someone do a hack or modification of the official drivers to switch the front and rear outputs. That way, my TV tuner volume control and recording could still function correctly (it doesnt with the kX drivers.)
YAY! thx
Creative's drivers always keep crashing my PC on shutdown. this is very annoying.
Gonna try these new drivers tomorrow.

I already use these drivers, and as far as music playback is concerned, I'm very pleased. I actually discovered there to be less background 'hiss' noise when using these drivers. I have a SB-Live 5.1 soundcard.
However, the EAX support is really bad. Hardware accelerated sound in certain games doesn't even work at all.

I had lot's of problems with Creative drivers. Also noise floor was really annoyingly high and audible. When changing to kX drivers I got a set of drivers that are useful, don't have bugs & noisefloor sank to totally inaudible....
But then; I don't play games.... Heard these drivers don't have much to offer gamers

With Creative drivers you can use ASIO output on a 5.1 player? Don't think so but with KX you can use it, people say that with this drivers you have better sound from your music, the advice they give is: if you are a music lover use this drivers, if you are a game lover use creative drivers
