Hey, i've just switched from winamp to foobar and am very excited about it!

The bundled dynamics compressor seems to be more configurable than OCTIMAX, which is what i was using in winamp, but i'm at a bit of a loss as to what all these settings mean--and i haven't been able to find an explanation anywhere, so if someone can give this noob the low-down, it would be much appreciated.

Also, is there a way to set up a keyboard shortcut or menubar item to let me toggle the compressor on/off at will? Is there a way to see a comparison of the input and output levels as in octimax?

(oh, and *yes* i know compression is *wrong* -- but i need it if i'm going to listen to music without waking up the neighbours and getting kicked out of here--Webern's passacaglia spends half the time below the cutoff on winamp's little meters, and actually maxes right out later!)

also, is this compressor interacting with replay gain, or will replay gain stay out of things as long as i don't detect the settings?
