try acessing the output plugin's options and setting "Buffer Ahead on Track Change" to like 500+. tell me if this works...

I've tried but with no results...

The mp3 files need to be encoded with (newer version of) Lame for this to work. Maybe this is the reason?

Edit. Ignore this post - I should read the question more carefully next time.

Try this - http://www.url.ru/~copah/CDReader.htm (together with proper output settings).

How about actually reading the question before replying ?

Ooops! Sorry!
I read that you had not been able to play back mp3 gapless. My fault.

Try going to Prefs(Ctrl+P) > Output > DirectSound > Config
Buffering tab - Increase 'Buffer ahead ...' to 500-1000 as suggested above.
Fading tab - Make sure at least the first three items in the list are disabled.

Also Prefs(Ctrl+P) > Input > in_cdda.dll > Config
Make sure DAE is enabled. Toggle the Sonic setting.

CDReader is broken with v5.02 and will only play from 'Explorer' now, so no enhanced CDs.
You can try running both CDReader and Winamp's own plugin. Works for me, but there is no guarantee you won't get conflicts.

turning Digital Audio Extraction (DAE) on should solve your issues.

also, i'm not sure, but it might be your drive--see if you can try with a different CD-ROM drive in your computer (one that plays gapless on someone elses's computer)--or vice versa.

Please don't reply if you really don't know what you are talking about; if a drive fails to "gaplessly" extract data in DAE mode, then it's not even possible to make a proper rip of that CD on it, and no such broken hardware exists.

actually, my samsung 212b (iirc, the version) can't rip audio worth a damn.

it screws up the last few seconds of each track. for a live disc this is death (and most of my music is bootlegs).

this is a known problem

my liteon dvd rips ok, so i've not ventured in flashing it for a possible fix

...ah... cdrecord is my friend

That would introduce noise/garbage in the signal rather than add pauses between tracks.

Some Samsung drives are known to silence out end of tracks --- hence you can't expect these drives to play gaplessly wink.gif

oh, i now remember flashing the drive to the latest firmware (~1or2 years ago, when i had a winbox) and it still didn't help. same problem.

it was either this, or it just deleted the last few seconds completely (something to do with the pregap? i dunno...)

You have to right click on the main window and choose "Play" - "Audio CD".

Winamp will add a gap between the songs if you drag the tracks over from an explorer window or use the "Add" or "Open" button to add them to the playlist.
