Windows media player used to take clicks that pointed to mp3's on the internet (using Internet Explorer) and start playing them automatically, even before it was finished downloading.

Can foobar be configured to do this???

It was discussed several times. According to these links it will be not implemented.

Well thats too bad then I guess... it just seems like it would be a great feature as I'm trying to keep from using any other player than foobar and this issue isn't helping since I like to preview music from band's websites and to have to let each 3-5 mb file download completely before listening is horrible.. especially if the band I'm listening to sucks!

Hopefully someone will make a plugin for this... sad.gif

I guess foobar is only good for one thing then... listening to mp3s on your harddrive... well two, I really like the masstager and freedb stuff.

Hmm I found how to listen to the music without downloading it completely. Foobar has HTTP reader. Set "prebuffer on start" and "prebuffer on underrun" to 1%, buffer size to small value (128kb for example). Then move linkto the song from IE on the desktop and then to the foobar's playlist. Then playback will start even if song isn't downloaded completely...
Avicus
Yeah that works fine! Thanks!

laugh.gif a loophole.

But since when must you use another player? Didn't at least one of the referenced threads mention copying and pasting the downloaded file? It is quite a hassle, but by no means would you need another player to replace FB2K in this function.

Convenience sometimes wins out. But I think I can be happy copying the link into the playlist... I hate WMP so much...
