gday..

am trying to convince a fellow of stepping
into MP4.

he`s working with video..
am trying to make a package to him for
presentation.

but i have one question.:
how is HE - AAC at pure speech ?

Additional question..
am using sorenson for mp4 video..
(squeeze 3.5.300.6) haven`t tried out ND..
squeeze is using FHG for aac.
is there anyway to make it use
another codec..
or is it adviced to jump back to nero again.. ?

/edit/
i found out that i have posted in the wrong forum..
any mod.. move it..

fwiw he-aac to me sounds better then for example the sipro speech codec for speech.

I haven't tested with speech much, but at least the SBR technique has been applied to improve speech codecs, so it should work well.

gday...

TnX.. guys..

personally. i seldom encode pure speech..
so self-explained.. i don`t normally got
good examples on HD.

and to answer myself.. yes.. the HE - AAC is
actually the best i have heard.

last time i did experiment with it..
i tried speex.. (don`t recall the version)
but i tried the last version..
and HE - AAC is superior in any way.
(to me)

gday..

yes. i belive so..

i have settled for 64.. the org. wav is 6.9M
and the HE - AAC is 331kb..
that`s great compression.. thus only speech
not so very demanding..
but again.. some say the human voice
is the most difficult one to prosses.

am pleased anyway..

Are you recording mono or stereo for your speech? Just curious as I played around with speech using HE AAC and found that 48k mono HE AAC did well, but of course, 64k HE AAC was the best sounding to me for speech at a relatively low bitrate.

gday..

copyed from foo. prop.

bitrate = 63
samplerate = 44100
channels = 2
aac_profile = HE AAC
codec = AAC
tool = Nero AAC Codec 2.6.0.6
----------
1832198 samples @ 44100Hz
File size: 339 055 bytes
------------------------------------
source :

bitrate = 1411
samplerate = 44100
channels = 2
codec = PCM
bitspersample = 16
----------
1830150 samples @ 44100Hz
File size: 7 320 646 bytes
------------------------------------

have been realy cool.. to have done a
frequency analyse of source and compressed.

(is there a multi format tool that can do that..)
