Hi there,

perhaps I just do anything wrong, but I can't see what I'm doing wrong. I want to play http://lsd.newmedia.tiscali-business.com/b...t=live&media=ms which works excellent with Windows Media Player.

Trying to play it with foobar2000 0.8b10 results in the following error message:
QUOTE
ERROR (CORE) : error opening file for playback :
INFO (CORE) : location: "http://lsd.newmedia.tiscali-business.com/bb/redirect.lsc?stream=antennebayern/livestream02.wma&content=live&media=ms" (0)

Please help me, I don't want to use WMP :-)

Thanks!
Peter

The reason is that foobar2000 does not play mms:// streams! dry.gif

Checked it and it doesn't work for me too. It looks that it's wma file. In preferences in WMP9 it shows that it's Windows Media 7 file. I have foo_wma.dll installed, but maybe this plugin does not support WM7 files?...

Yes, main reason is probably that what you are trying to play here is:
mms://213.200.64.231/antennebayern$livestream02.wma
while foo_read_http reads stuff (as it's name indicates) in the form of something like:
http://69.28.130.106:8000
...but other than that i don't know whether foo_wma plays wma streams... I guess it should. Probably does?

There are four general forms of streams in use for out there I think (eh, for music, disregarding speech codecs like SPEEX or video codecs now): mp3, ogg vorbis, Windows Media formats and Real Media formats..... and it's really annoying, but sometimes you have to be really really creative if you are going to play windowsmedia or realmedia streams without having to actually open dreaded WMP or Real/RealOne Player..... (Have a look at this link, for instance: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....hl=real+player)
Sad but true; It's often easiest just to succumb.... or just give up
