Full Version: Playing MP3s from CD-Rom, stutters on song change.

I have been searching around the forum for a possible answer, and I only found some threads suggesting increasing the Output buffer to avoid skipping, but that was for older computers, where CPU power was the issue.

In my machine, with Athlon XP 1900, that is not the problem (I think!). But when I am playing MP3 files from a CD in my CD-Rom drive, it takes a couple of seconds to spin up to load the next file, and that defeats totally the super wonderful gapless playback... sad.gif

I turned up the Prebuffer setting for slow drives in the Playback options, but it doesn't seem to help...

Suggestions?

Mmmm... either I am the only one with this problem, or the only one who cares... smile.gif

A bit more information: I am using Foobar 0.7.7b.

Maybe it's a bad idea to have FB prebuffer the whole song? Maybe I should let it have my DVD drive spinning all the time?

Nobody knows? rolleyes.gif

Yes, it is.

fb2k must then read the whole file before it can start playing it back.

You should turn off prebuffering and increase output buffer to something like 2 seconds instead.
