I hadn't really thought about it, but now that I have, even if Ogg and MPC were of an equivalent quality, they'll need to make some significant encoding performance gains before I'd be ready to switch. Since I don't care about portable support at the moment, MPC is definitely far and away the best option. SV8 will just cement that for me, and maybe once it's a little more of an "official" release we'll see some innovative portables picking up support.

It'll be faster than LAME, but still only 1/3 the speed of MPC. (say 40-50 secs)

Having Ogg encode as fast as MPC is probably not possible (transform vs subbanding).
