Hi,

I archive my flac files to CDRs.1/2 shows per disc.

Is it true that it makes no difference what writing software you use to burn the data files to CD.As long as you check the md5 file and that confirms everything is OK on the CD?

If this is the case the speed of burning would therefore make no difference as long as the md5 checks OK.

I use EasyCD Creator 5.5 but I know people who use old and dated software but the discs verify OK.

I was just wondering about this.

Any views?

Cheers,

Ian

Software makes no difference. Its the burner thats writing the disks, not the program feeding the data.

I would speculate that there might be an increase oscillation at higher speeds, leading to a less accurate burning. However, this is only uninformed speculation on my part.

If you are worried about loss of data, you might want to divide your files into smaller ones and sprinkle some redundant parity on top.
PAR should help.

Hi,

I don't really understand what sprinkling some redundant parity on top means.

What is this and what does it do?

Could you explain please.

Thanks,

Ian
