Hey, my roommate can't figure out why his MediaJukebox program is displaying his VBR mp3's as 32kbps. I don't even think he knows what codec he used when ripping. In winamp the kbps window doesn't look like my normal LAME codec mp3's -- it does vary though. In his program -- MediaCenter -- it shows his mp3's as being 32kbps. They don't sound like it.

What's going on here?

And is it possible to fix them or just re-rip?

Try applying VBRfix to the MP3s (you can also use foobar2000 for that). Seems like some spoony ID3v2 tag writer overwrote the Xing header.

Wow, that was fast! Thanks for the answer -- worked perfectly!
