Is it possible to use pipes to send the data from CDex to mppenc? When I try I just get an error "Can't send data to pipe" or something similar. What switches should I use?

Thanks

What option string (in the settings dialog box) do you use?
You have to specifiy the - option for the input file and %2 for the output file

I tried it.

And the error was actually: "Cannot send data to external encoder"

I used version 1.40 Release for this.

This is not supported in CDex 1.40, you'll need CDex 1.50 beta 4 in order to use this feature

Ok. Got it now. But now I can't tick the box that says "On the fly encoding"
I chose "External musepack encoder" in the dropdown list.

Edit: or rather... it will not stick when i open the setup window the next time.

Edit2: And when using the "External encoder" in dropdown list, I get the same error as before. On the fly encoding is checked as well as send WAV header to stdin. Parameter string is: - %2

I noticed this too. I did trick CDex to keep the box checked but that solve anything either.

What made it work for me was getting the CDDB info, somehow having a song's filename made it work. Very nice, no intermediate WAV or second process to encode.

Used: CDex 1.50 beta4, mppenc 1.04
CDex: "- %2" Hide DOS box(x) On-The-Fly(x)

I found the problem why the Add WAV header to STDIN did not stick, this will be fixed in the next beta release
