Hello everybody,

I have a small problem with EAC. Since I had significant reading problems on certain types of audio media (d'ont need to say which ??), I decided to recycle one of my old CD-ROM IDE player (CREATIVE CD2422E 24X) with an external 5,25 USB 2.0 box, in order to increase my chances of success in reading. I work with a laptop under Windows XP Pro and the system recognise perfectly the player in the Windows explorer or in the hardware manager. biggrin.gif

On the other hand, EAC categorically refuses to recognize this player crying.gif . I struggled with my PC (reboot, deinstallation then reinstallation of EAC, destruction of the registry entry of EAC in Windows... it didn't give anything!!! ) I tried to search the forum in order to find a similar problem, without any success.

Did anyone had the same problem ?
And if so, is there a solution?

Thanks in advance for your help

The interface from EAC is only made to read from internal IDE.

Thanks for your reply.

I finally found a way to do it, using the Native Windows Interface in replacement of standard ASPI drivers.

But in this case I cannot be sure that EAC correctly use the drive ? Am I right ?

This is nonsense! Best way to deal with external drives is to copy the winaspi32.dll form Ahead to the EAC folder, then select Aspi Drivers in EAC, and you're done. However, if it works with the native windows driver, it's OK also!

Andre has said multiple times over at digital inn that he cannot guarrantee EAC with external drives because the I/O programming is specific for the IDE bus.
