I have a revo 7.1 and its a great card, but it does not have any digital input connections. I want to hook up a xbox or dvd player to it so I can play them on my PC speakers. I have a rca adapter for the line in, but that only gives me stereo sound. I have the logitech z5300 speakers and I want to hook them up to the xbox or dvd player to get 5.1 sound. What options do I have besides buying a new soundcard or speakers? And how much will it cost?

edit: ok so there's not solutions for revo 7.1 users. What is the cheapest solution for me. I need something that decodes dolby digital 5.1 and has optical inputs. It also needs to be compatible with the z-5800 speakers. What's the cheapest solution? I looked at cheap cards with the optical add-on but they said they only output stereo sound. Getting a soundblaster platinum series is too expensive since I already have a great soundcard. Getting a dolby digital decoder is too expensive as well. What's the cheapest way to do this?

You can't expand the Revo with a digital input; you'll need another card.

Even if you obtain a digital input, I wonder if there will be a straightforward way of decoding Dolby Digital from it. Most pc-audio software will be designed to decode from dvd/cd/hdd.

So the only option I have is to get a dolby digital decoder? Those are really expensive for the minimal use I'll have for them. I was looking at the Klipsch dd decoder, but I want something cheaper. Any reccomendations?

Anyone have any experience with Creative's DTTS-100? It looks promising.

Thats actually wrong.

Because of the Envy24HT chip, its actually fairly easy to replace the mic or line-in input signals on the card with SPDIF.
Well... fairly easy for an EE anyway.

I play to do this to mine, and also add optical outs in place of the analog outs shortly.
