I have some MP3s that are ID3v2 tagged, but ID3v1 is blank. Is there any way to copy ID3v2 info to ID3v1, so my car player can read it ?
I know that for newly created files all i need to do is to set foobar2000 to write both ID3v1 and ID3v2. But what if the files already exist and are already tagged? Winamp has a "Copy ID3v2 to ID3v1" and vice versa function, but it is not for multiple files. Is there any similar option in Foobar2000īs masstagger?
Another question: is it possible to have a column in in the playlist that show, for each file, if it has ID3v1, ID3v2 and APEv2 tags? Maybe literals to use in playlist title formatting? That way i could load hundreds of songs in the playlist and quickly check if they all are already properly tagged.
Im a complete n00b in foobar... only using it for 2 days, so really sorry if those questions are obvious...

if you set foobar to use id3v1+id3v2, and then do "rewrite file tags from database" (located in the database submenu), you'll have matching info in both tags.

wow, big thanks!!! as i dont have database enabled in foobar, i would never guess it has anything to do with this..
by the way.. is there any reference manual out there? the only one ive seen is in french (http://www.foobar2000.net). and the official FAQ is very small. Is there any comprehensive reference anywhere?

You might have a look at the
Collaborative FB2K Documentation Project and the
foobar2000 Wiki.
also, take notice of the fact, that the database cannot really be "disabled".... in the past -not- enabling it only meant to make its entries temporary.
In newer foobar versions, the descriptions and labels concerning the database are now more clear about that.
Before you ask: no, you cannot completely disable it, because foobar needs it at least in temporary form for many features.
In the present, it means that the data is discarded from memory when all associated metadb_handle references are released.

I tried this but when I open the tag info in Winamp and click file properties there is no ID3v2 tag. Also the program Album Cover Art Downloader can't find the ID3v2 tag to use.

Maybe try the latest Winamp? They added some 'preliminary' support for ID3v2.4 in 5.2, but I'm not sure what this really means.

I was using Winamp 2.9x, I prefer if I can do this in Foobar.

This version of Winamp doesn't support ID3v2.4 (I preferred it too, before switching to foobar completely, but still). If you want to write ID3v2.3, now you can only do it in foobar2000 0.8.3. And AFAIK no changes are planned in this aspect.

I only use winamp when I just want to hear a song I recently got i.e. it is not in my collection.
Ok the Album cover-art downloader is reading 2.4 tags, so I am not sure what I did wrong yesterday.
