Hiya,

After a day of intensive reading and searching, i wasn't able to find definite answers to the following questions:

When using the digital output of my Audigy2 ZS, do i still need the resampler, or does it bypass resampling? In other words; is resampling a DAC thing or does it happen before that?

Also I have looked around the net extensively and it 'seems' that the Audigy 2 LS actualy aplies 24bit/96khz resampling. Can anyone confirm this?

Furthermore I Have a Cambridge Soundworks Megaworks THX 250D 2.1 set and it has a digital in. Cambridge being a Creative brand, it will probably use the same DAC as the Audigy2 ZS. Does anyone know if this is the case?

TIA!

Turns out that the audigy 2 ZS does actualy resample at 24bit/96khz, just as long you keep ALL Creative setting on either default or off.

So what i did is install ONLY the drivers without ANY Creative shite and it works like a charm. This is done by extracting only the drivers sub dir of the latest Creative webupdate package and deleting everything else. Then when XP asks for the drivers you just lead it to this dir and done! biggrin.gif

I am still wondering though; does resampling actualy happen during DAC or in the soundprocessing beforehand?

Please explain this in more detail.

Do you mean that you have managed to play back a 44100/16 source without resampling on an audigy2?

How did you determine if the output was resampled?
Dumbo
I didn't test it myself, but someone at the 3dsoundsurge forums apparantly did. I will see if i can retrace that thread.

Meanwhile, back atthe mansions...a question to my answere perhaps?
Here it is again: does hardware resampling actualy happen during DAC or in the soundprocessing beforehand?

TIA

Of course, it happens before the data is fed to the DAC.

And afaik, audigy2 is not capable of playing back a 44100 kHz source without resampling over both digital or analog outputs.
