Hi,

I have been searching this board for quite some time and could not come up with an answer to this:

lame-3.95.1 prints a ReplayGain adjustment to the console after it finishes encoding a file. Is there any way I can write that into the file and use it when playing back with xmms or similar?

Thanks,
Jose

The info is written into the LAME tag, but AFAIK, there are no players that can read this ATM.
Gabriel
Madplay is using this info.

Thanks for the fast answers!

So if I use the xmms-madplay input plugin, will it read the lame tag? That would be very nice.

Can someone elaborate on what this replaygain is? Just curious.

If I MP3Gain it then replaygain is the lame tag updated? Will it effect playback in foobar?

This page has latest news from 3.5 years ago. And it does not say anything about madplay reading the lame ReplayGain tag.

Instead it links to mp3gain, which unfortunately does not exist for Linux.

The latest release of MADPlay, 0.15.2b, is the first release to support the ReplayGain info in the LAME tag, and that was only released on 23 Feb 2004.
