Full Version: Equivalent Wires?

I was wondering what the equivalent to this cable set is. I have a Klipsch Promedia 2.1 setup right now and want to replace the default wires with something better (mainly lower gauge). I understand that I could just as easily get a custom cut somewhere, but I don't feel like dealing with that, and the Radioshack I went to said they did not do custom cuts anymore. Weird... Anways, so yeah, does anybody know the name of these cables? I want to buy them, but not necessarily from Klipsch.

These cables are lower gauge, but they're longer too (it says 'extended wire lengths'). You can lookup here if you really need a lower gauge than you've already got (see the Wire Table). The information in the table is provided by R. Russell from McIntosh.

If you really think the cables can be improved upon: there's a good discussion here about difficult loads (scroll down beyond the usual 'speaker cable fanatics bashing'). I'm not sure though if it applies in any way to the Klipsches. Are there impedance diagrams of those in some review perhaps?

The main reason I'm looking for lower gauge is because the system comes with 22 guage wire, which to me seems like it just barely fits the bill to be pumping out 200 watts. Also, from looking at that chart, the wire provided is essentially at the edge of the wire length limit for a nominal impedance of 4 ohms.
